Ospreay, who last dazzled AEW fans at WrestleDream as part of The Don Callis Family in a victory over Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi, is now set to make his return.
After fulfilling his previous commitments, anticipation builds around Will Ospreay‘s imminent AEW comeback, with significant plans awaiting his arrival. At Full Gear, Ospreay appeared in a segment where he formally inked his AEW contract. He announced that his journey within All Elite Wrestling would kick off during the Road to Revolution, scheduled for March.
Dave Meltzer, on Wrestling Observer Radio, shed light on the timeline for Ospreay’s AEW ring return alongside other new debuts. Meltzer stated, “Mercedes is on March 13th. Okada, I don’t know. And Ospreay could be, I was told Ospreay is in Greensboro, that could have changed. But I mean, I was told by someone who would know that he was going to be wrestling a match in Greensboro. So that’s March 3rd.”
It will be interesting to see Tony Khan’s plans for Will Ospreay once he makes his jump to AEW.
Will Ospreay’s AEW contract include NJPW appearances
On February 11, Will Ospreay emotionally bid farewell to NJPW, marking his final appearance in an NJPW ring. He formerly held the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship before transitioning to AEW as a full-time wrestler.
Following a loss with his United Empire team to the Bullet Club War Dogs at the New Beginning in Osaka, Ospreay shared his thoughts backstage about his future and his deal with AEW, which allows for his return to NJPW matches. He stated, “I signed my deal with AEW, and I’m allowed to come back and do New Japan matches. I don’t know when that’s going to be. I need to find balance first because I have no idea what I’m doing right now. I’m scared for this next job. I’ve had anxiety traveling to America. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, I just get scared. I’ve always done this on my own.”
AEW and NJPW maintain a strong partnership, highlighted by their collaboration on the Forbidden Door PPV events in 2022 and 2023, showcasing the supportive relationship between the two wrestling promotions.
