WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker, a former world champion, has huge praise for the top talent. The top talent is none other than former Intercontinental Champion Gunther. The Ring General has been making huge waves since his arrival on the main roster back in 2022.
He captured the Intercontinental Championship quickly following his arrival on the main roster and held the record for a staggering 666 days. The former World Champion, The Undertaker, recently praised Gunther’s work, solidifying the former Intercontinental Champion’s status as a rising star.
Speaking in an interview with Kevin Whittier on the Witty Whittier show, Gunther reacted to The Undertaker’s comments about him. He stated, “I mean, that’s great, obviously. Like you said, the feedback of the fans is what dictates our journey, how successful that’s going to be, but I guess for every professional, it’s always something else when it comes from up here or a colleague. It’s nice to hear those nice things and I chat with him sometimes when we run into each other at a WrestleMania or something. The style he worked for his career, I think it’s not that far off that he would be positive towards me because I think it’s somewhat similar.”
What were The Undertaker’s comments regarding Gunther?
The March 4, 2024, edition of WWE Raw saw Dominik Mysterio facing Gunther in a match. Although The Ring General emerged victorious, he received surprising praise for his performance from none other than WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker.
In his “Six Feet Under” podcast, The Undertaker expressed his admiration for Gunther and his recent match against Dominik Mysterio. The Deadman mentioned that The Ring General gave him vibes from a different era and praised the heel-against-heel dynamic in the match. He stated, “I really like him, I think the sky’s the limit for him. I think he’s a little bit of a throwback to a different era, but has the ability to work and tell stories. I mean he just had that match with Dom (Mysterio) which is tough, a heel versus a heel is a tough match when somebody doesn’t turn. He kept Dominik a heel and he kept himself a heel, and I’m really, really high on him. But, yeah, we would probably fistfight about two chops in.”
After losing his Intercontinental Championship following The Undertaker’s praise, Gunther quickly climbed back to the top by winning the King of the Ring tournament. This victory sets him up for a World Title match against the champion at WWE SummerSlam in August in Cleveland, Ohio.
