Top AEW Star Will Ospreay Takes Aim at Ricochet Amid WWE Departure

Following MJF’s comments hinting at Ricochet’s arrival in AEW, another top AEW star has thrown their hat in the ring. Former WWE United States Champion, reportedly set to leave WWE, was recently called out by MJF. This has fueled speculation that Ricochet might be AEW-bound, with another top star now expressing interest in a potential matchup.

Ricochet’s brutal attack by Bron Breakker on RAW this past Monday has fueled speculation about his future. With news of the former United States Champion being written off WWE programming, fans wonder if a move to AEW is on the horizon. This speculation intensified after MJF hinted at Ricochet’s arrival.

The news of Ricochet leaving WWE has garnered significant buzz, and AEW star Will Ospreay has also weighed in on the buzz. Adding fuel to the fire, AEW star Will Ospreay recently posted a video on his Instagram story. Ospreay is seen walking towards a banner with Ricochet’s name and making a playful remark. He said, “Oye, your name is sh*t.”

Back in 2016, Will Ospreay and Ricochet showcased one of the most athletic wrestling matches in NJPW. Their match received a lot of attention from fans and wrestling veterans around the world.

Will Ospreay opens up about feeling ‘sad’ after watching Ricochet in WWE

The news of Ricochet leaving WWE has gained huge buzz this week after reports surfaced that he informed the promotion of his intention to leave once his contract expires. A few weeks ago, in an interview, Will Ospreay opened up about his former rival Ricochet.

Speaking with ComicBook, Ospreay mentioned feeling sad for Ricochet. He stated, “I keep up with him all the time, and sometimes I get a little bit sad about it. I hope he’s not sad, and I hope he’s real happy. I keep up with him as much as I can, but I feel like people are forgetting who Ricochet was once upon a time. All of these high-flyers that you see, and myself included, we all took inspiration from PAC and Ricochet.”

Furthermore, Ospreay also talked about how WWE is using Ricochet, specifically talking about WWE’s Speed, which features 3-5 matches. He stated, “The fact that they only value his time for under five minutes is appalling to me. I just want people to remember who he is. If you go and look at 2012-2013 Dragon Gate Ricochet, he was untouchable at the time. When it came to this generation of high-flyers, he was the greatest. He’s the greatest high-flyer ever. I know it sounds weird, but I do include put him on the same level as Rey Mysterio.”

Ricochet is set to leave WWE this summer, and a few AEW stars have already hinted at a showdown with him. It will be interesting to see what’s next for the high flyer.
