The Judgment Day, consisting of WWE stars Finn Balor, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, Damian Priest, and JD McDonagh, most recently attracted interest from a former AEW star. The faction debuted in 2022, with Edge as the initial leader. However, Edge was kicked out by Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley, who then appointed Finn Balor as the new leader.
The faction grew stronger when Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh joined, enhancing its power. The Judgment Day has been dominating WWE for the past few years. Recently, Dominik Mysterio also brought the faction’s old rival, Carlito, into their faction. Although Carlito is not officially part of the faction, he has been seen backstage with its members for months, potentially indicating his future inclusion.
The Judgment Day, now consisting of Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, Rhea Ripley, JD McDonagh, and Carlito, seems to be a group that former AEW star Matt Hardy is interested in joining. Hardy left AEW in March, when his contract expired, and opted not to re-sign with Tony Khan’s promotion. This led to speculation about a potential WWE return. However, Hardy surprised fans by returning to TNA in April at Rebellion. He brought back his in-famous “broken” gimmick.
With the ongoing partnership between WWE and TNA, which has seen talent crossovers, the potential of Broken Matt Hardy joining The Judgment Day is an exciting prospect.
Matt Hardy on joining The Judgment Day: Why he finds it exciting
Former AEW star Matt Hardy has recently shown interest in joining WWE’s faction, The Judgment Day. On his podcast, “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” Hardy mentioned that his ‘Broken’ Matt Hardy character is evolving. He expressed that joining The Judgment Day could be a fun opportunity.
He stated, “Never say never. Who knows? The ‘Broken’ Matt Hardy character is actually kind of evolving. Some people have noticed how I kind of go in and out of the voice of ‘Broken’ Matt or the voice of the more authentic Matt Hardy, so it is changing some. It is definitely evolving. I think it is time to do this evolution. So yeah, who knows? The Judgment Day, they’ve got a cool gig going, so yeah, that’d be something that would be fun.”
Given WWE’s current collaborative relationship with TNA, as evidenced by Joe Hendry’s regular NXT appearances, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Matt Hardy make a brief stint with The Judgment Day.
