Variety is reporting that Sony Pictures Television is developing a Silk live-action Marvel series with Good Trouble and Atypical writer Lauren Moon, who is Korean-American just like the Spider-Man universe character, in talks to write.

Silk, whose real name is Cindy Moon, is a Korean-American classmate of Peter Parker’s. She was first introduced in the comic books in The Amazing Spider-Man #1 in 2014. Like Parker, she is bitten by a radioactive spider, which gives her the ability to move at incredible speed, shoot webs out of her fingertips, and possess an advanced Spider-Sense known as Silk Sense.
The character previously appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War and was played by Tiffany Espensen. Casting for the television role has not yet been announced.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller will executive produce the series through their Lord Miller production banner alongside former Sony Pictures Entertainment head Amy Pascal. Sony Pictures Television will produce. No streamer or network is currently attached, though Amazon is reportedly in talks to acquire the series in addition to other potential Marvel series projects based on characters owned by Sony.

In 2018, Sony announced they were developing a Silk movie as a Spider-Man spinoff following the success of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Pascal was set to produce the film. Earlier this year Sony also announced that it was working on a secret female-centric Marvel movie with director S.J. Clarkson (Collateral).
